The Tree of Life in Draper, UT is a world-famous representation of a scene in the Book of Mormon. The tree is strung with 1,000 strands of light and is located at the Draper City Park. The entire park is strung with lights to create a winter wonderland to enjoy.

Ice Castles in Midway, Utah

Bring a sled to pull small children (instead of a stroller) if you visit the Ice Castles in Midway, UT. The Ice Castles are constructed every year near the Homestead Crater in Midway. The ice princesses from the movie “Frozen” put in appearances at various times and you can have the kids take their picture with them. Temple Square Christmas Lights in Salt Lake City, UT

The Temple Square Christmas Lights are on every night through January 2 in Salt Lake City and they are well worth seeing! There is a life-sized Nativity scene near the North Visitors Center. Christmas music is always playing in the background and live bands put on performances as well.

Gardner Village in West Jordan, UT

Christmas time at Gardner Village is a recreation of Santa’s North Pole workshop located in West Jordan, Utah. There is a Scavenger Hunt through the village for children 12 and under to find all of the elf displays, with candy prizes for children who find all of the displays. The old-style village also features 22 locally owned shops decorated for the Christmas season. West Jordan is located about 12 miles south of Salt Lake City.

North Pole Express Train in Heber, UT

The Heber Valley Railroad puts on a special North Pole Express train every year for the Christmas season. The railroad has reduced ticket prices for “North Pole Class” (coach). Every rider receives hot cocoa and a special gift from Santa. The North Pole Express runs through December 23rd and you can find dates and departure times on the North Pole Express website.

Candlelight Christmas at This is the Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake City, UT

The Candlelight Christmas is a village setting at This Is The Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake City, UT. You will feel like you’ve stepped into a holiday greeting card from a century ago if you attend one of the scheduled events. The kids can make crafts and homemade gifts in one of the decorated pioneer cabins. Christmas carolers provide the background music. Admission prices to This Is The Place Heritage Park are slashed for the Candlelight Christmas and kids under 2 get in free.

Zoo Lights at the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City, Utah

The Hogle Zoo is another location that will get your kids in the Christmas spirit. There are special nightly events at the zoo in Salt Lake City and participation in all events is included in the admission price. The zoo is lit up for the holidays. The kids can visit with Santa’s reindeer. Another must-see event is the lighted tunnel which you can walk through while wearing a set of hologram glasses. Luminaria at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, UT

Luminaria is an enchanting one-mile walk through a dazzling Christmas display in Lehi. There are 6,500 luminaries that cover the hillside and they are programmed to put on various displays. You really must see it to believe it. Time slots are available Monday through Saturday in the evenings through December 30th (it is closed Christmas Eve).
